Job Description

Commercial Policy and Strategy Commercial Consultant will partner with sales, client success, and operations teams to (i) build, streamline, and automate our deal desk processes, (ii) support management by ensuring strong data-integrity, (iii) analyze sales order structure and pricing to provide guidance to the sales organizationBe responsible for the day-to-day quote and pricing approvals. Assist Sales with crafting Quotes, Sales Orders, and Partnership Agreements. Maintain an agreed upon SLA on deal turnaround times data-driven consultation to internal stakeholders using financial and operational modeling to answer complex questions. Perform other ad-hoc analysis as assigned



About You
You're a fit for the role of Commercial Consultant if your background includes:



  • Produce, review and analyze performance management reporting of actual monthly results and variances for sales, revenue, accesses, costs, headcount, Capex and other KPIs.
  • Provide support to the development of budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of business plans/business case analysis for new projects or initiatives, working closely with different functional managers to agree planning assumptions, scope, and objectives.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Build financial models using data from financial systems and other sources, to support business decisions and the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Contribute to preparation of business presentations/briefing papers for local, regional, and/or global management.
  • Act as a contact point for queries from business management.
  • Provide support to SOX compliance.
  • Carry out other compliance activities including revenue assurance and support for tax, compliance and cost assurance.
  • Work closely with the Services Center to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Respond to queries and requests from Central Finance for reporting and analysis.
  • Provide input to ad hoc projects within Finance and the business as required
  • Work closely with Deal Desk leader on contract negotiations to help drive deal decisions 
  • Provide support for pricing approval process to ensure compliance with all established pricing guidelines for new and existing customers
  • Responsible for escalation on non-standard pricing or contract changes to appropriate approvers for review and approval
  • Perform research and reporting to support deal decisions
  • Maintain and update renewal and discount pricing policies, processes, and procedures
  • Facilitates the product/service pricing process, including: pricing complex deals, analyzing and modeling pricing components, communicating with Sales
  • Support complex order auto-renewal and attorney growth notification processes and other similar offer support.
  • Work with Sales and Account Management on non-standard deals to understand opportunity objectives and help translate those objectives into the custom pricing order form
  • Ensure custom complex pricing order requests are created using the appropriate process and tools
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on custom quoting and understand, retain, and apply approval and product pricing requirements
  • Conducts ad hoc pricing and financial analyses as needed
  • Contributes expertise to new product development and pricing automation issues as a stakeholder
  • Effectively utilize a wide variety of pricing calculators and tools.
  • Responsible for maintaining a contract management database, which houses information about contract terms and provides data for monthly financial reporting.
  • Ensures adherence to SOX reporting and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for improving complex offer processes and tools, take on additional projects as assigned by manager

About You:


  • Four-year degree in business, finance, accounting or other relevant major required; MBA and/or knowledge of legal industry is a plus.


  • 4-6+ years relative experience in a Deal Desk/ contract pricing and negotiation environment


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


  • Ability to show initiative, prioritize effectively, work independently with a high degree of accuracy, comfortable with ambiguity.


  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detailed oriented.


  • Proven ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple and complex projects.


  • Adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced service-driven environment


  • Strong technical skill including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM and SAP


  • Ability to work extended hours as required
