Data Scientist

ROLE PROFILE:

This role would be pivotal for the Process Management and Transformation group which is responsible for leading & implementing Transformation Projects/Programs across World-Check (WC), Refinitiv Due Diligence (RDD), and Screening Resolution Service (SRS). The team handles the core systems change management, drives lean culture across the Customer & 3rd Party Risk Solutions, content management for RDD, as well as client analysis, policy, and technology requirements from the process efficiency perspective.

As a Data Scientist you'll have to work closely with to the various Risk business functions to ensure activities deliver maximum value to both the company and their customers. Duties include research, analysis,  design, development, testing, installation, modification, and maintenance of engineered information systems, containing software as the major component to meet agreed business needs. 

ROLE SUMMARY:

Perform scientific research into the latest methodologies and technologies within a Domain Area.

Scope and build proof-of-concepts / prototypes using data science techniques.
Locate, clean and wrangle data. Integrate internal and external data sources using API’s.
Work with collaborators to identify and deliver data and tools needed to build prototypes and proof-of-concepts.
Collaborate with fellow developers, Risk Infrastructure experts, testers, architects, and operations teams to deliver working solutions.
Take ownership of the analysis, design, build and delivery of software components written in Angular, React or Java or any other ground breaking technologies.
Take responsibility for identification, estimation and reporting on of progress of tasks.
Assimilate, challenge, help refine and then apply architectural principles around scalability, security, and fault tolerance.
Participate in support of the wider platform, potentially joining the on-call Rota.
Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
Accountable for creating, managing, and maintaining all the standard technical artifacts.
Collecting, analysing, and validating/vetting of Functional and Non-Functional Requirements.
Responsible for scoping and sizing of features and functionalities in collaboration with Business and other Customers.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Degree in a highly quantitative field such as computer science, physics, applied mathematics, or engineering.
Ability to individually conduct scientific research.
Experience analysing and working with geospatial data is an asset.
Experience producing and rapidly delivering minimum viable products. 
Strong programming experience in Python and its core libraries like NumPy, pandas and scikit-learn.
ML Ops technology stack (Kubernetes, MLFlow, Docker etc) is a bonus.
Hands-on experience with ML, Deep Learning, and NLP.
Ability to write fully-tested, production-level code.
Experience working with relational, NoSQL, or Graph databases.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-cultural team. 
Experienced with Maven, Jenkins, Jira, Git and BitBucket (or similar tools).
Great verbal and written communication skills, both formal and informal. E.g., a successful candidate will be able to use whiteboard to express a complex design, listen to and process constructive feedback before adapting and refining the design in response. 
Equally, the developer could produce a formal specification of an API suitable for consumption.
Constructive and collaborative approach to working with less technical teams, and handling test failures and potential defects in a positive manner.
An excellent drive to solve problems ‘the right way’, and a logical approach to investigating issues. Ability to review and constructively critique code and designs.
Experience of PL/SQL and relational databases.
Scrum/agile experience.
A pragmatic understanding of the latest microservice based patterns, architectures and supporting infrastructure.
Experience of developing high-throughput code.
Demonstrated ability of Customer and Third Party Risk Solutions.
Required Languages (both written & spoken): English

YOU WILL BE EVEN MORE COMPETITIVE IF YOU:

5 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer.
Knowledge of Angular (12/13/14), React (16/17/18), Java 11, Spring, Spring Boot, XML and JSON, NPM, TypeScript, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3 and applying them in practice.
Knowledge of integrating the Front End with Restful API’s and event driven microservices.
Knowledge & practise of JIRA, VBA, Tableau, Power BI.
Knowledge of Salesforce system (Administrator, Developer) & APEX coding.
You have a keen curiosity about automation and innovative process optimization solution.
You have experience within the finance-related industry, consulting, or technology.
Makes recommendations that may shape operational strategy.
Resolves nature of sophisticated or undefined problems; independently identifies the best solution from many alternatives.
Escalates higher risk or more unique problems.
Decisions require interpretive thinking and some judgment in developing solutions.
