Role Purpose


Leading MYP Design, the Design Teacher will develop a curriculum consistent with the MYP framework and the MYP Design Subject Guide and will create units of inquiry relating to technology and design. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School and the Head of School. 



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES



Key Responsibilities



Curriculum Delivery:


  • Writing, implementing, and facilitating a curriculum based on the MYP Framework for Grade 6-10.
  • Introduce new and appropriate software, incorporating and introducing this into existing resources to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Report on students’ progress along the continuum

Differentiated Instruction:


  • Tailor teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Work in close collaboration with the various teams to ensure cross-subject connections and create interdisciplinary learning opportunities, supporting the development of student skills.

Project-Based Learning:


  • Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
  • Source and create budgets for program-specific equipment, including 3D Printers, CNC Machines, Laser Cutters, CAD/CAM, Makey Makey, Arduino, Lego Mindstorms, and E-textiles, supporting the establishment of Design/Computer Science/AI across the EC-12 school.

Assessment and Feedback:


  • Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in MYP Design concepts, sharing feedback with relevant stakeholders in accordance with guidelines.
  • Report on students’ progress along the continuum.

Collaboration:


  • Act as a proactive and collaborative connector between all buildings, Ed-Tech teams, and any and all team members of EC-12.
  • Proactively promote collaboration between and amongst teams and divisions
  • Create outreach partnerships in collaboration with the department with local and international university partners, Ed-Tech organizations, and entrepreneurship centers.

Professional Development:


  • Stay abreast of the latest educational trends, technology tools, and advancements in design education.
  • Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies, and other educational areas and select appropriate educational software/hardware to enrich learning.

Resource Management:


  • Retaining and reviewing an inventory of machinery and resources and projecting/sourcing future resource requirements within a curated budget.
  • Responsible for the service and maintenance of machinery and resources.

Communication:


  • Communicate individual and group accomplishments and projects (interests, pursuits) in a timely manner through conversations, newsletters, and other documentation via school guidelines.

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Education and Certification:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or similar field

Teaching Expertise:


  • Proven experience as a Design teacher, emphasizing IB MYP methodology.

Technical Competence:


  • Proficient in NEOM EC-12-approved design software and diverse design tools.
