WSP Group plc is a global business providing management and consultancy services to the built and natural environment. Established in the UK in the '70s and listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1987, the company has grown through strategic development into one of the largest international consultancy groups in the world employing over 9,000 staff worldwide. WSP operates as a specialist in the property, transportation and infrastructure, environment and energy and management and industrial sectors providing a full range of services from planning through to design, implementation and maintenance. Background WSP International and the National Consulting Bureau (NCB) is in a joint venture working on making a long-term plan for the Tripoli Region, starting with the Regional Plan and five Sub-Regional Plans followed by the revision of the Master Plan for Tripoli, Master Plans for more than 120 settlements and also Detailed Planning. The NCB-WSP Planning Unit is based in Tripoli and the main project aim is efficient and qualitative production of plans to be approved by the client, the Urban Planning Authority (UPA). During the current and final stage of the project, emphasis will be put on revision of five Sub-regional Plans as well as submittal of analyses regarding present situation and a number of sector reports. As the working language of the NCB-WSP Planning Unit is English, all reports must be translated into Arabic for the comment and approval of the client, UPA.
