About the team 

The Oracle DBA will work as part of a team with responsibility for design, development, support, and maintenance of software-based solutions that make up FIS s 24/7 online infrastructure. The DBA will work closely with the development, testing and application support teams to maintain and perform code deployments to testing, pre-production and production support environments.

What you will be doing 

• The DBA will work with development project teams to help improve existing and deliver new application functionality making sure procedures, policies and best practices are kept up to date.
• To be responsible for managing and maintaining the Oracle database environments from a DBA perspective; to ensure that they are fully supported and fit for purpose paying particular attention to PCI compliance. Ensure development and testing database environment are kept up to date and are fit for purpose. Fulfil a 24/7 on-call function on a rotating basis.
• Provide QA for database designs and code written by developers. Define, develop and maintain project documentation and database standards. Help set up new database environments.

What you bring: -

• 7+ Years as an Oracle DBA with strong experience in Oracle Golden Gate (OGG)
• Database Performance and Tuning (Issues they have encountered, the approach and how they overcome this issue. 
• Understands Database procedures/PL/SQL

• Checking/Understanding SQL query plans
• How to replace bad query plan with good query plans.
• How to force good query plans
• Using AWR Repository
• Identify Tablescans
• Being able to investigate IO issues.
• DB Patching (Able to raise Oracle SR’s for patches, Able to understand Patching process and carry out RAC DB rolling patching)
• Operating System (Linux) Having common sense approach and a good understanding of navigating the operating system is a basic requirement.
