Ingram Micro'sInsights & Recommendation(InR) practiceis a profit generating strategicdepartmentthat provides IT channel stakeholders with the insights and industry intelligence to generate more business, expand reach, and achieve pinpoint accuracy in their sales and marketing efforts.Thedepartmentdevelops high margin science offerings for Ingram’s Global Partners and internal Business Units across the company including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance. 

Featuringlargetransactional, product, and inventory databasesacrossthe IT Distribution Channel, theInRdepartmentdevelops the science and products driving Ingram’s product recommendations, search,lead analytics, recommendation engines, propensity models, industry performance, customer health analysis, product lifecycle analysis,forecastsand growth targets, as well as supply chain optimization. 

THE POSITION

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to developandexpandsolutionsforIngram’s recommendation and searchcapabilities.

The role will collaborate with a diverse team ofhighly talentedPh.D.s, M.A.s, and industry experts to use advanced scientific techniques on world class data infrastructure to develop large-scale models with immediate and long-term relevance. You will focus on buildingnewand refiningexistingrecommendation engines and search algorithms.As a Data Scientist you will build models, work with large granular data sets, communicatemodelsto key internal and external stakeholders, be positioned as a Subject Matter Expert, and own sub-streams of projects that requires effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications and Role

• Ph.D. (or technical Masters) in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or related technical field
• 5+ years of quantitative experience (industry, consulting, government, academics, or post-doc work)
• 3+years experiencewith SQLandpython

• Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised methods.
• Experience with popular libraries like scikit-learn,XGBoost,TensorFlow, orPyTorchis highly desirable.
• Experience working with Recommender Systems
• Experience working in cloud environments (GCP/AWS)
• Experience cleaning, aggregating, pre-processing andvisualisinglarge granular data from varied sources, including complex relational databases.

• The ability to design and execute field experiments to draw insights from marketbehaviour,and measure the performance of deployed solutions
• Strong problem-solving abilities and thecapacityto apply data science techniques to real-world business challenges.
• The ability and desire to learn new things quickly
• Ability to apply insights to high impact questions with immediate and long-term relevance
• Ability to work independently and in a highly engaged team environment.

• Strongverbal and written communication skills; the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners

• Some understanding of data modelingand data engineeringtechniques
• Some understanding ofMLOpsconcepts and best practices
• Familiaritywith Searchenginealgorithms/information retrieval would be an asset
