Job ResponsibilitiesPlanning and Clinical Responsibilities
  • Acquisition and storage of data for treatment plans, contouring and calculation of dose distributions and machine settings for treatment delivery
  • Develop treatment plans as assigned including routine, 3D, IMRT, IGRT, HDR, SGRT and SRS/SBRT treatment planning.
  • Translate desired treatment plan into a set of instructions for the Radiation Therapist(s) to execute.
  • Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist and Radiation Therapists in the treatment planning. Help with verification and execution of plans.
  • Provide consultation to the Radiologist(s) and Radiation Oncologist(s) on the physical and radiobiological aspect of treatment.
  • Dose calibration for radionuclides available in Nuclear Medicine department as required.
  • Provide full services including contouring and developing treatment plans for VET customers.
  • Input patient data and use beam data to generate 2D treatment plans.
  • Prepare and check IMRT/3D treatment plans based on dose prescription by the radiation oncologist. Consult with the radiation oncologist on treatment.
  • Perform point dose calculation when needed. Perform calculations for non-standard treatment situations (irregular fields, extended distances, gaps, tissue compensators, TDF, etc.).
  • Participate in the training of new staff members in coordination with the responsible medical physicists.
  • Assist in patient setup, data acquisition, and data transfer to the treatment planning system. Perform image fusion, anatomical contouring, and isocenter placement.
  • Facility limited: HDR brachytherapy/brachytherapy: Assist in the performance of HDR Brachytherapy /Brachytherapy procedure including patient setup, simulation, dose calculations, and dose delivery.
  • Participate in the use of in-vivo dosimetry systems such as thermo luminescent dosimeters (TLD), diodes, and MOSFET.
  • Completion and review of patient charts (electronic and paper)
  • Participate in the implementation of new clinical and research procedures and technologies.
  • Participate in quality assurance, in particular backing up patient data and QA on equipment.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of caring, concern, and support for patients ranging from pediatrics through geriatrics, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers on a consistent basis.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as directed by supervising Medical Physicists.
  • Weekly chart review.
Training Responsibilities
  • Participate in quality improvement processes.
  • Participate in departmental academic programs.
  • Research, develop and evaluate new analytical techniques.
  • Teach and train future medical dosimetrist.
  • Participate in the clinical research program.
  • Participate in continuing education program.
Other Responsibilities
  • Any other work as assigned by the reporting manager.
Job Specifications

Qualifications


Diploma (2 years course) in Radiography/ Radiotherapy Technology OR Degree in Radiotherapy Technology/ Bachelor's Degree in Medical Dosimetry or a related field from an AERB recognized Institution


Experience


Minimum 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience


Skillsets


Good Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, radiobiology, radiation physics, and radiation safety.  Expertise in 2D, 3D, IMRT, and IGRT radiation treatment techniques.


Language Proficiency


English, Hindi, and local language (if applicable)
